About us

Dyslexia Support South is one of the programmes run by Learning Differences Aotearoa Trust.

The other programme is children’s workshop Growing Stars.

Dyslexia Support South was formed in 2010 as a volunteer parent support group by three local mums’, Adele Hibbs, Gabby Urwin and Chris Cole. It transformed through a name change and new people coming on board as consultants to become Dyslexia Support South in 2016. Through partnering with a local trust, Poppycock Trust, Dyslexia Support South were able to access their trust structure and expertise to apply and receive community funding in 2016 and 2017. In 2018 our own trust, Learning Differences Aotearoa, was able to access community funding from Community Trust of Southland. This funding has enabled Learning Differences Aotearoa Trust to employ a Support Co-ordinator and Trust Manager to provide services to parents, caregivers, their children and schools.
